All stock transfers can be made directly to the new investment account. For questions about executing the transfer, please contact support@uicharitable.org
Complex Assets
Donations of complex, appreciated assets provide a double tax benefit for a client. Not only do they receive a personal income tax deduction, but they may also eliminate capital gains tax on the portion of the asset was contributed to their DAF.
Here are some of the common complex asset donations:
Limited Partnership/LLC Interest
S-Corp/C-Corp Stock
Real Estate
Art & Other Collections
Cryptocurrency
Complex asset contributions require additional collaboration with UI Charitable Advisors. If you are interested in these types of contributions or would like to learn more about the process, please contact support@uicharitable.org
*NOTE: All complex asset contributions in excess of $5,000 require a third-party appraisal by a qualified appraiser to substantiate fair market value for the charitable deduction. Appraisals must be obtained no earlier than 60 days before the date of donation and no later than the due date of the donor’s tax return (including extensions) for the year of the gift. The cost of the appraisal cannot be paid by the DAF.
